| AQUINO, LAGMAN JOIN FORCES FOR 2010 POLLS |

NOVEMBER 23, 2009
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Former vice mayor Eligio Lagman and PhilHealth president Reynaldo Aquino have reportedly joined forces for the mayoralty and vice mayoralty race next year.
Aquino and Lagman reportedly sealed their alliance in a private meeting at Holidayland Restaurant here Sunday.
A source, who sent Sun.Star Pampanga a photo of the meeting, said Aquino and Lagman "have mustered enough support from local coordinators and officials."
"The support groups are set and we are now waiting their filing of certificates of candidacy, probably this week," the source added.
However, the source did not say who between the two aspirants will be running for mayor.
Aquino earlier said he will formally announce this week his political plans for 2010.
The source said a change in governance is needed to ensure that Fernandinos receive the needed social services they deserve.
Lagman, in interview a few months back, said he will run for vice mayor in 2010.
"I am confident that our team will be (a) formidable one to anticipate this coming elections," the source told Sun.Star Pampanga.
The source said Lagman and Aquino will battle it out with incumbent Mayor Oscar Rodriguez and Vice Mayor Edwin Santiago.
Another source, on the other hand, said only Lagman will file his certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor, while Aquino will just support him.
San Felipe village chief Ariel Carreon said the Lagman and Aquino tandem, if pushed through, would be a welcome development in San Fernando politics.
Carreon, who was also planning to run in the 2010 mayoralty race, said he had shelved his plans in favor of the "more competent and able tandem."
"Both Lagman and Aquino present a fresh air on local politics. Surely, local officials will rally behind them," he said.
