PASAY CITY -- Kapampangan officials, staying with the Lakas-Kampi-CMD, have expressed support to standard bearer, former Defense Secretary Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro, saying he is most qualified among other aspirants.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo described Teodoro as "intelligent, young and dynamic" during the ruling party's national convention at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Thursday.
Arroyo, in the same event, also relinquished her post as party chairman to allow Teodoro to head and steer the party.
He and former Optical Media Board (OMB) chairman and actor Edu Manzano were formally declared as the presidential and vice presidential candidates of the administration party.
Subic-Clark Alliance for Development chairman and Northrail president Secretary Edgardo Pamintuan said Lakas-Kampi-CMD leaders in Pampanga will "ensure the victory of Gibo" in their respective areas.
Pamintuan arrived at the convention with Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo "Tarzan" Lazatin, who earlier declared his support to Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Senator NOynoy Aquino's presidential bid.
With them are Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting and Councilors Maricel Morales, Ruben Maniago and Jay Sangil, who belongs to the minority block of the City Council.
"Teodoro is the most qualified among the candidates. He exemplifies what a leader should be - competent and full of dynamism," Pamintuan said.
Pampanga Third District Representative Aurelio "Dong" Gonzales, district chair of the party, "hailed" the Teodoro-Manzano tandem.
Lakas Central Luzon chairman and Pampanga Second District Representative Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo, in his speech at the PICC, said Lakas "is the present and future dominant party."
He boasted about the 921 elected members of the Lakas party in Central Luzon.
